A TRAJECTORY OF MORE THAN 100 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE

Meet Jaime Pereiras, Quality Manager at Adaro Tecnologia
30 July, 2021

When we ask our customers what attributes would stand out from our flashlights, many respond: quality. That is why we wanted to start our series of interviews by our Quality Manager.

Q: First of all, introduce yourself and tell us about your experience.

A: My name is Jaime Pereiras and I work as Quality Manager at Adaro Technologia. I hold a Bachelor´s Degree in Industrial Technologies (specialized in electronics), Master’s Degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Master’s Degree in Operations Management & Lean6Sigma.

I have experience in the management and development of European-level R&D projects in the electronic area, work that I have continued to develop also during my 7 years in Adaro, where I am mainly in charge of quality management tasks.

Q: What are your duties as Quality Manager?

A: To ensure that the company uses all the tools available for the quality assurance of our products, as well as to provide new instruments that contribute to the improvement of our efficiency and service internally and externally.

This includes the entire manufacturing process of our products, starting with supplies (monitoring, approval and communication of requirements to our suppliers) as well as the after-sales follow-up and the feedback of our customers.

Q: How would you describe the quality policy in Adaro?

A: Our main asset is that we have a trajectory of more than 100 years in which we have been able to acquire a lot of experience and know-how. In addition, we have the perfect combination of young professionals trained in cutting-edge methodologies and workers with a long career in the company. Our quality policy is based on these pillars, achieving an optimal balance between experience and continuous improvement.

Q: What does Adaro want to convey to its customers through “Made in Europe“?

A: This slogan means, in addition to the location of our factory and the supply chain of our products, that our production processes comply with the most demanding quality and safety standards imposed by the EU. In this sense, as an example, we can highlight the adoption of the ISO 9001 Quality Management Standard already in the mid-1990s, the certification of our R&D&i Management system according to UNE 166002 or, of course, the notification as manufacturers of ATEX and IECEx products. In addition, due to the organization’s commitment to the environment, we are in the process of certification according to the ISO 14001 Environmental Management Standard, which we will obtain throughout the year.

It is, therefore, a company philosophy, based on the production of high quality equipment that exceeds the requirements of our customers.

Q: What about the 5S? What changes have occurred in the company and how do you rate them?

A:The 5S is part of the foundations of Lean Manufacturing. It is a methodology that provides order and discipline, and that fulfills above all a didactic task in the formation of the whole organization towards the culture of standardization and continuous improvement. Its adoption is, therefore, a firm statement of the company’s committment on reaching the excellence.

Q: And finally, who is Jaime outside of work?

A: Well, a rather restless person about my hobbies. I am constantly looking for new experiences with no ambition other than the enjoyment of the learning process itself, so I have always spent my time studying something new (English, French, German, playing the saxophone…) and/or practicing some sport (swimming, climbing or crossfit).
